Amateur Theatre Seeks Members

Are you interested in joining our friendly team? Here are some answer to any questions you may have. When are your shows? We aim to produce 2 shows a year, one in the middle around May/June and one at the beginning of December. What kind of shows do you put on? Our productions normally alternate between Stage Shows and Pantomimes, however we do occasionally do Cabaret style shows too. Do you do other events? We often get involved in community events such as Armed Forces day and Normanton Gala providing demostrations of up coming shows and hosting stalls. Fundraising such as public appearances and event evenings also take place around the Wakefield district, you may have seen us in Trinity Walk, or one of our party nights. There are also Saturday clubs for the younger ones where members of the production team and society provide workshops aimed at building confidence and skills that culminate in a performance at the end. How are you funded? We are a non profit organisation. All our costs are met through show fees, ticket sales, donations and fund raising events. Any additional funds are invested back into the society to improve future productions. How often are rehearsals Rehearsals aver every Tuesday and Thursday between 7:00pm and 9:30pm, younger members are only expected to be present until 9:00pm. Closer to show time, Sunday rehearsals may also be added. How old do I have to be? Everyone is welcome from 7 - 75+. We do ask that younger members are supervised. I don't think I'm good enough to be on stage, can I still get involved? You don't have to be the best singer or dancer, just have plenty of enthusiasm, commitment, a willingness to learn and have plenty of fun along the way. There are other roles available off stage if you fancy it too, as a non - acting member you could be involved with production crew, wardrobe, make - up, backstage/stage crew, front of house or promotion of the society - whichever you're most interested in. Any member of the society can be nominated to be involved in the Committee too, and there is a Youth Committee run by and providing a voice to the younger members of the society.
